The area of your damage is in front of the replacement lower door hinge mount shown in the pictures. I don't think the replacement door hinge mount will help you.

No, look at where I drew the red line! That's where the damage is! Also, the door hinge mount/pillar post is slightly tilted forward (the bottom rail is bent) so that at the top of the window where the T-top mount (the chrome edge piece w/ hole) the whole is tilted to the front of the car, making it sit 1/4" too far. The T-top won't fit and the angle of the A pillar doesn't correspond with the door window! I'll still have to pull the area around the #1 mount further apart to see if there is some bending/damage there. I'll probably know this weekend..

Twinne, I think you are going to have to find a donor vette to cut off good pieces and reattach them to your frame and body. I'm surprised your vette was even saved after such a nasty hit. Do you have a vette salavage yard near you? If so, graft in the pieces and continue on. It want be perfect, but better that it now. Good luck and if you need help finding a donor, post a note and we will start the hunt.

There are no vette junkyards in the Netherlands but one of my buddies over on crossfireforum helped me out, he has an 81 that he's cutting up and I can have the parts I need. Talk about awesome!!

I'm defenitely going to cut that crumbled up piece out and weld in a fresh section, seems to me like the only solution.

And as far as my vette goes, it was a heap of junk, it was salvaged, crashed, stolen... :( it's and 82 frame/drivetrain w/ 80 VIN & body but the frame and such is perfect, this is the only major flaw (and of course all the stuff I fixed, basically EVERYTHING!)

It's one vette saved from death, got it dirt cheap and she's my baby I've been working on her for 3 years on and off now, since last couple of months i'm doing a MAJOR rebuild/custom job..flip front, rack & pinion, ZF6 speed, Moon crossram, engine rebuild, lots lots more...I'm bulding it the way I want it!!
