I put in a new light switch. Now all the lights work, including dash lights. All except the courtesy lights. Is there any seperate circuit I should look for? All the fuses check out fine. I was hoping that the switch would solve both dash and courtesy light problem, but it solved only the dash lights. What should I look for?
Courtesy, clock , lighter etc., those things that stay on without the key on are on a seperate fuse. I think that is where you should start. Pull the fuse and make sure. Check power at the terminals of the fuse box.
Only the courtesy lights won't work. The clock works, and all the rest of the lights work. Did not check the lighter. Just wondering if there is a trick to tracing the problem.
OK, The best thing to do is to check the wires at the socket. First check for power on the colored one. If it has power you have a ground problem. Then check the white wire for ground. This wire grounds through the door switches. With any door open you should see it go to ground. Make sure you have two prong bulbs. Many times I find people put in the wrong bulbs.
Ctrain, you said you replaced the light switch? Do you mean the headlight switch? I don't have working dash lights either, maybe this would help me. As far as the courtesy lights go I switched out my fuse. It wasn't blown just had some corrosion and did the trick.

CR... Yes, I replaced the headlight switch. The reostat part of the switch that controls the dash lights was corroded. Now they work great. I will have to try the door switch grounds for the courtesy lights.
