This is the Mark VIII fan I bought for $50.00. This winter I will install it on a new radiator and will probably use a Delta Controller to operate it. This is the fan and controller PhotoVette1 talked about in a previous thread. Still waiting on him a a few others to get thier swaps done to see how it works.
I cant wait to see your install and the pics! I hope it works; I really believe this is a superior cooling fan arrangment. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Another one of your projects that I look forward to hearing the outcome of it. Your car should be rock solid when you get it done. Of course you know there is no "Done with it", there is always something to do. Someone will come up with something new and we will have to have it too. Keep up the good work.
Yeah, it would have been a very quick replacement except I decided to:
Replace...
Condenser coil
Radiator core support
Refrigerant hoses
Alternator
Compressor
Re-do all engine compartment wiring
Switch to aluminum valve covers
Replace the coolant recovery tank
Replace the windshield washer assembly
Replace the cruise control module
Replace all soft rubber vacuum lines with plumbed aluminum lines
Re-paint the engine compartment
Etc., minor stuff.
It's gonna take me another month to get it done right.
I am getting Vette withdrawl symptoms bad. The models are not too thrilled either. They get downright cranky when I pose them next to my Ford van. Just don't look the same without the Vette.

I got mine installed today. Works like a champ it never went to high and I let it idle for 30 minutes. Before with the two 12” fans it would idle for 10 minutes and climb right past 220 deg. Today it stayed rock solid at 190 deg. I will have to do more testing because it was only 90 deg today (cooler than it has been). I still have to mount it permanently; I did a quick mount today so I could try it out. I am using the Spal controller on it, not sure how many amps it will handle the paper work does not say. Still have about 2 ½ “ on each side to the shroud so I may build some side shields and add them to the fan shroud so the fan will draw air across the whole radiator. I will post some pics tomorrow.
Eddie,
I want my Vette as solid as yours so I can run with you guys later!
I, like PhotoVette1, want to do more than just change the fan. I want to install a Hodrod Air condensor, a sanden compressor, pull the engine and install the new cam and other engine parts I have laying on the shelf. Too much to mention. I can't wait to start seeing posts on the fan install from PhotoVette and Chevyman!

Pardon the general condition of the engine bay; I have stripped all the loose paint and now (well, not right now) I'm gonna paint it a nice haze grey. After serving in the Navy for so long, an engineroom don't look natural unless its grey.
I think it'll look good when I get done.

How'd you clean and re-seal the wiper area? My stock sealant is cracked and horrid-looking.
It's not quite finished, but what I did is scrape everything with a file. The blunt end of a file makes an excellent scraper in tight areas. Then I sanded it. Then smoothed all the cracks with Liquid Nails--then sanded that when it dried. Then couple coats of Rustoleum non-spray.
Re-painting the engine bay is a real PITA, though---I think it'll look nice when it all gets done. I just wish I'd reach the point where I'm putting stuff back in instead of taking stuff out. Soon...
The grey paint, the oil-based paint smell, the smell of the motor--it sure reminds me of the Navy...

Do you have a full screen shot of this? Can I use it as my background image?
I was a bubblehead--we could only paint a few days a year--couldn't paint when submerged--yay!
I'm suddenly remembering the Simpsons episode where the guys all join the naval reserve and submerge a submarine while the Villiage People are standing on deck...
