Is there a large difference between having ceramic coating on outside versus inside header?
The headers I'm going to get are the Hedman 68301-6's with the ceramic coating. (Yes...I know I've been stubborn about those Dynomax's.) The coating is on the outside of the header. Will this make a large difference or is it something trivial?
Re: Is there a large difference between having ceramic coating on outside versus inside header?
Well, I don't have headers, but I'll provide what I remember reading here about coated headers and get this ttt for a response from someone who has first-hand experience.
1. Coated headers "flow" better because they heat up internally quicker and stay hotter internally.
2. They keep the engine compartment cooler than non-coated.
3. They look better longer than non-coated.
4. They may wear out more quickly than non-coated because of the extra internal heat. :(

Any header that has been Jet Hot coated is coated inside and out.
I think HPC coatings only do the outside.
I would prefer and recommend some that are done inside and out, but if Hedman wants to warrenty some that are only outside coated, I wouldn't worry too much.
