Default Gas Tank Bladder '75

If the bladder is removed can the tank be used "as is" or does it have to be sealed. I want to remove the bladder and weld a sump on the bottom.

I cut the bladder out of my 75 last winter and it's been working just fine without being sealed etc. You have to retain the part of the bladder that acts as a seal between the part that holds the sending unit and pickup against the tank.

I seem to recall reading an article in an NCRS magazine about bladder removal. Maybe tha author will chime in.

I'm thinking about doing this also, the 10% ethanol in this crappy gas is most likely not doing the bladder any good.
