Default Radio/Electrical Problem.

Ok guys, heres the problem. On my '81, when you turn the radio on, the display on the radio shows"pwr", you can hear a slight static noise from the speakers but, there is no sound, the radios display never shows anything else and the power antenea does not come up. It seems like there must be power to the radio but I am not sure about the antenea. And why does the display on the radio not show anything? Any info on how and where to troubleshoot would be greatky appreciated.

Sounds bad for the radio itself. Verify 12 volt inputs (main and ignition) and check for good ground. Antenna get power from the radio. If power at radio and ground are good, high probability radio need repair or replace.

Sounds like your head unit is cooked especially with no readouts. You can test your antennae with a jumpover lead from your fusebox and I'd use a separate ground for it too.
Good Luck :D
