Default Alternator running hot

I had a problem with the original alt. wanting to dress the engine a little at a time I went with a Tuff Stuff 100 amp chrome. Started Charging lite up to +60 but did drop, I figured I was just recharging the Battery. What I did notice and had not paid much attention before was that the alt. seemed to be very hot. Question is the running hot just the charge up or is it a fact that they just run Hot.
Thanks,

OK, so what does "Started Charging lite up to +60 but did drop, " mean?
It should not run all that hot, and if the battery was getting charged at 60 amps you should have had a fire.
How did you connect the alternator? Is it a 1 wire or 3 wire?

Alternators get hot...that's why they have their own fan. Make sure your 'Vette doesn't have a parasitic draw, causing extra work for the alternator.

if you arn't getting burned when you touch it, it's not hot.

If you do get burned you prolly have it hooked up wrong
