Howdy folks! I've been on quite the hiatus for a while, being in the service takes away from my car time, but I finally am getting back on board.

If you remember, the last thing I posted about was during the restoration I had started on my C3 when it was ravaged by a packrat and I had to re-wire the whole shebang. Well, I've never really liked the '80 interior, and it has a 72 engine and tranny, so I've decided to do a crazy resto-mod. More of a retro-mod.

I've already got everything to redo the body, that's not an issue. It's the engine and the interior.
The engine and tranny are both rebuilt 1972's. A 350 with lots of aftermarket goodies and a pretty stock TH400. I have four thousand dollars cash to play with, and heres where I want ideas:
I can get all sorts of mods and additions to my current engine and push its power limits...but what I really want to do is replace the ugly interior of the 80, and fabricate in a newer interior, anywhere from 98 to 05. I've only done that once before, with a Monte Carlo dash setup I put in an S-10. But I think it can be done, the only issue I run into there is all the guages and components wont want to play with my old engine without a lot of extra work. So I'm thinking about finding a LS1, complete with wiring harness and complete C5 interior and making the metamorphasis as best as it can be done. I'm not making a old car new, more of making a new car old.

now here's where I want YOUR Ideas-
Should I mod the hell out of my existing engine?
Should I change to an older interior, like a 77? (Would be easier)
Should I attempt to do a new interior and do all sorts of things to get it to comply with my current engine (dont even really think that's possible, the ECU would have to be trashed and the guages would have to be converted)

Or is there an idea you think would be badass? I'm essentially making a multi make car, I don't care how much your ideas would cost, lets hear 'em!

Thanks!

Just read an article in Corvette Magazine where a guy put a late model, C5, interior in a C2. It looked awesome. I think if you can do it and not make it looked hacked in, go for it. He got all the computer stuff working as well as the ac.

Under hood mods can usually be changed back to original without to much trouble.

Its not original now....so this is a mute point at this venture.

Modded interior to match a modded engine compartmnet would be sweet! If you do use a new interior, I would use the C5 up interior, C4 interior doesn't strike me much.

I placed '02 Z06 seats in my '78!
