Try looking at the left front to see if the ground is hooked up at the rad. core holder, Thats if you have power at the head lights, use a tester to check for power at lamp connector
fusiable link is at starter--make sure connector is on at dimmer switch
I did some tinkering today with a multimeter and found that I had power at the switch, so that said that the fuseable link at the starter motor was ok. Then I peeked through the hole in the carpet and saw that the plug was on the dimmer switch. By then it was 48 degrees Celcius (about 120 Fahrenheit!!) and I gave up in disgust.
While I was at work, I went through the crappy wiring diagram I have and came to the conlcusion that as I was getting nothing AFTER the dimmer switch, that it must be that. I phoned my son and asked him to pull the carpet back and double check that the plug was on (in case I had been hallucinating in the heat!!). My son said that there was no plug on the switch.... I went and had a look when I got home and the "guts" of the dimmer switch has come out of it and was still plugged into the harness. When I had peeked through the hole in the carpet, it had been sitting on top of the dimmer switch and I didn't look any closer than that. When my son pulled the carpet back, the plug was obviously knocked free!!
I held it together and hey presto - lights again! Now I just have to go into town and hope like hell that all Chevy dimmer switches are the same. There's always Ecklers I spose, or Bubba it and hold it together with a tie wrap.....
