First some back ground. A lot of the vets in Ausy have been converted to Right hand drive since we drive on the left hand side. A common change to the distributor is to rotate it 180 degrees so the cable to the tach gauge isn't bent at a sharpe angle. This has been done to my 74. So the question I have is; Is this a problem with the timing or would I get better perfomance/economy form having the distributor in the correct position. At present she runs okay

It doesnt mater where it is set as long as it's wired correctly
Are American cars rare in Australia? Maybe you would have mainly Japanese/Korean cars based on the proximity, or British cars based on the historical ties? I wonder if people even have heard of or seen a Corvette when they see you drive by?
True most of the vehicals here are asian, but there is a surprising number of American cars and bikes around. Due to the expence and difficulty of getting them here they tend to be under lock and key alot of the time. Just organise a show or some fine weather and they seem to come out of no where
talc,
Good to have another Aussie here, where do you live? I'm in Melbourne and am a member of Vic Vettes, the Corvette chapter of the 700 strong Chevrolet Car Club of Victoria Inc. www.chevcarclubvic.org.au and we're always looking for more members. But there are Corvette clubs in all the major cities. I also have a '74 but have left it LHD as it is over 30 years old and does not need to be converted for registration.
The previous answer is correct, it doesn't matter where the distributor is placed, as long as the plug wires are in the right place and the vacuum can can be connected.
Keep looking in here, you'll always learn something about your car.
