I plan on upgrading the suspension in my 72 next year after doing the 383 engine swap later this year. The car is my DD, so it needs to ride comfortably, but I definitely want a nice improvement in the handling. It seems liks VB&Ps "Grand Touring Plus" system would be my best bet - they advertise it as being "designed for the high performance street driver," which sounds exactly like me. Seems like a great deal too...
How much of a difference will this make in handling? Obviously wheels and tire choice are a huge factor, but let's just assume good rubber and take that out of the equation. How would the car compare handling-wise to a C5 or C6?
It makes a night and day difference. My car felt like it was on rails after my upgrade. I installed what your looking to do. However I did have everything replaced/rebulit, bearings, balljoints, powersteering valve....etc. But the car has a very comfortable ride and stays very flat in a turn. Just don't go to stiff on the springs, stay close to stock. I think mine were 480 front with a 330 rear. Nice fat sway bars and not to stiff springs are a great combination.

Good Luck
Thanks for the advice. The car rides fairly harshly now, which is mainly due to the age of all the suspenion parts and the fact that the springs are pretty worn out. Are there any other cars you've driven that you could compare it to?
Call VB&P, tell them how you want to drive the car, and they'll tell you what you need to get there.
Heh, I might just do that. The thing is, there are obvious limitations to the handling of the car given its narrow track and overall suspension geometry. I'm just wondering how well these cars can handle and still be fine for driving on the street.
