Headlight Aiming Procedure
I drove my vette for the first time at night Tuesday and I see how poorly my headlights are adjusted. Anyone have a setup procedure that they use or is it in the assembly manual?
Dont know, but position the vette @ the end of your driveway and aim the headlights @ your garage door (20 or so ft away) and see how the lights aim . to low to high? and start adj from there. I dont know about other c3 owners out there but i here alot of this complaint. I avoid driving my 82 (if i can) @ night cause of that reason.
Would upgrading to a 100 amp alt vs 70 amp alternator make a diff ?

I use the garage wall and make adjustments. Take the car for a spin and readjust. I have seem headlight aiming devices at local garages. They always had an inch of dust on them from not being used.

havent seen one of those in years
After putting halogen bulbs in all 4 holes, waited till it got dark, went to empty parking lot, adjusted till they were right
I typically use a long dark county road and a couple pieces of cardboard to cover the other lights while I'm aiming one at a time. Then I drive back to town and see how many people flash their brights at me. If it's a lot, I tweek 'em down a bit. Pretty unscientific, but it works for me.
My headlights were quite dim when I first got the car but after cleaning the terminals they perked right up.
If you're trying to make sure you are getting the most from your lights I would suggest taking the terminals out one by one and cleaning them with some fine sandpaper. I also use some Ox-Guard dielectric grease when reinstalling.
ehh... I'm in the same boat. Past few nights have been the only real night cruises I've taken with the car. They are way out of adjustment. I may do a relay soon as well to try and help it out.
