I think your touching a subject seldom discussed on the forum but very interesting. I have a 5blade and have never had temp problems but my location up north helps this alot, lolll I do have close friends with other types of muscle cars and have herd them mention the fact that a seven blade greatly improves air flow compared to the 5. Maybe its more relevent with the bigblock or if your running A/c & power steering.

I know the big block chevy muscle cars came with the 7 blade and my base engine 72 had a 5 blade. I would guess better air flow and cooling with the 7 blade. Probably sucks more horsepower too!

I believe 5 blade fans were for non-a/c 'Vettes, 7 blades for a/c. Big-block 'Vettes hade a special design 7 blade fan, with extended tips.
