Default Holley 6210

Is this a decent Carb? I picked up a rebuilt one for a decent price but I can't figure out the choke. My Q-Jet has been professionally rebuilt and runs OK but my car tries to stall out whenever I go from a dead stop. I thought it was my amatuerish manual tranny driving but a friend thought it was my carb. He said to try a smaller ( around 600cfm ). I am planning on doing a top end rebuild this winter and thought about a Demon carb but I didn't know if it was worth it to get this Holley working or not. Thanks in advance

neither of mine have a working choke. it can be an excellent carb if set up correctly. give it a try! On my 61 it is impossible to shift into 2nd without spinning the tires(WOT). if that bothers you, get a vacuum type

Traction isn't a problem on my stock 75. Sorry for amet question but won't not running a choke harm the motor on startup?

Unless your in a really cold climate, or use it in the winter, Holleys seem to work fine without them. Both my BOSS 302 and my 'vette have them, and I just give 'em a couple of pumps in the morning and they fire right up. A Q-jet won't do that. After about 30 seconds of warm-up with a little bit of high idle, they settle down and idle and I'm on my way...

T-Top...........I have both a 600 edelbrock and a 750 (original q-jet)....The q-jet runs better at wot but for ideal gas mileage and performance I actually prefer the 600 with the electric choke call me :jester

The 6210 is a great carb. The problem is that you need an older intake with the choke spring mounted on it or if it is a newer intake that has the hole for the choke hot air pipes, order the kit from holley with all the choke parts that bolt to the housing and the linkages. 6210 uses external choke (LT1 and others used external choke so all these parts should be available from ZIP to hook it up also.

I found a 6210 style carb for a pontiac that has an integral choke which I will hook up as electric (which I could find more of these). My 80 is set up for an electric choke so this will work better on the ZZ4 motor. I put the other 6210 with divorced choke on my truck.

Thanks Dave I was planning on giving Holley a call anyway to see if they had
some literature on the carb. I have the stock intake on my 75 with a hot air choke so I guess it should have the hole for the hot air choke. I'll ask holley if theres an electric choke conversion for it that would probably be easier for a novice like me. :D
