I went bracket racing with my brother last weekend and had a blast. I can see that a '76 vette with a Tremec 5-speed is far from an ideal platform, but I want to make it work. I am definitely going to upgrade the fuel injected 383 to a big stroker sbc (434, 440, or 454) and likely use the same injection set up (with mods) and a solid roller cam. Hoping for 600 hp and great torque on pump gas and to run mid 11's. Anyway, the motor isn't really my question, I have a lot of information on this.
I have a new Tremec TKO 5-speed, steel scattershield, offset trailing arms, cryogenically treated new axles, new heavy duty half shafts (3"). and a new driveshaft. I'm going to talk to a guy in town about a roll cage as I will need it to run below 11.99, I believe.
What do I need to do to the drivetrain and rear suspension to make this work and what webisites have the info? I think I have heard about a drag kit sold somewhere that really helps the IRS work for drag racing? Any tips on the roll cage?
