So i went down three jet sizes last night on my holley hp, THe car seemed to run much better, i was very happy, then pumped teh throttle a few times and a flame shot out of the cab about 2 ft high. The passenger side exhaust also was popping. the whole time that i would get up in the RPM's What is going on here? I am under the assumption that you will only backfire out of one or the other. Any diagnosis, The timing is at 31 Deg BTDC. a little bit scared.
3 things to look for when you get an intake flame/pop: crossed ignition wires, lean mixture or a flat lobe on the cam, probably exaust side. I hope it's not the last one! The exhaust popping is due to unburned fuel entering the exhaust. A fouled spark plug or crossed ignition wires come to mind. G/L
