Hey guys Im new here and have gotten the bug to buy a c3 stingray. Im working on a deal on a '72 but the car is an auto and 454. Yes power/displacement is nice, but I was wonderign if the 454 would just be too nose heavy to be able to auto-x. Also what are some of you guys running for suspension/brake setups and how do you like them. Is there any one or two websites that talk about auto-x a vette so I can read up a little more on what it will take to do it succesfully. I dont mean to win, but to be able to have the car perform where the only problems would be driver error. Also is there any websites you guys would recommend to start shopping around with. Thanks for your help, Kyle.
A past multi-time Solo National Champ in SCCA B-Street Prepared was a 71 LS6 big block, so yes, it can be done with a big block. That engine had aluminum heads and intake, which helps reduce the weight penalty of the big block.
I know for a fact that the car had factory J56 brake components, with upgraded brake pads (PFC Z pads at the time, there are arguably better pads these days). Not sure about spring rates, if I had to guess he was probably running F41 or Daytona front springs with probably a Daytona equivalent rear spring.
