I have a constant high pitch sqeaul when I drive, the noise varies with speed. COuld it be wheel bearings. I know it is hard to describe sounds but thought I might ask. The noise seems to be coming from rear end. It is definetly not a brake squeal.
Yes it can be wheel bearings. I recently had a sharp metallic squeak that I couldn't track down. Turns out I had a failing pass side rear wheel bearing... How did I know? Failed on the highway. Doing about 65 the whole car started shaking like it was coming apart. Fortunately this was right at my exit. I pulled off and at a stoplight saw smoke so I pulled into a convenience store parking lot to find bearing grease leaking from the pass side rear wheel along with enough smoke to make one nervous.
I'm in the process of changing the bearings in both sides and have found bubba was in the pass side already. After failure I had 0.2085" end play! Should be in the neighborhood of 0.001".
I'll be starting a new thread with pics tonight... you can check out the carnage there if you'd like.

I'll check it out tonight. From what I hear, changing the rear bearings in no cake walk.
