I recently bought an edelbrock RPM intake manifold (#7116) to use with my 355 and when I was reading the papers inside the box it mentioned it was only for square bore carbs. Does this mean I have to buy an adaptor to run my Qjet? From what I understand the spread bore is like the qjet where the primeries are smaller than the secondaries and on the square bore the primaries and secondaries are the same size. Im just curious if I can use my qjet and how would I do it. Thanks
The extra height with a carb adapter may cause you to have clearence problems with the hood. Edelbrock makes a RPM Q-jet manifold but it is not for vortec heads. You may want to send it back and go with a performer vortec part # 2116 it works with the Q-jet.

Sounds like When I put the motor together I will measure out the hood clearence on my 73 and then decide if I can use a spacer or if I need to get a different carb. Thanks for the help guys!!!!
currently its a stock L-48 with the M-20 trans. New combo will be: 355ci. M20 trans, 3.55 rear gears. 9.8:1 compression, crane powermax 272 camshaft. vortec heads. RPM intake made for the vortec. Bottom end has a steel crank chevy 5.7 inch rods with ARP bolts, and KB hyperutectic pistons. I was planning on using my stock distributor and rejetting my qjet, but if I need to have more hood clearence then I will use a different carb.
