I always put what I'm will to spend as my limit and walk away from it. If someone goes over that, then fine "sucker" :p: I think most professional bidders sit there with two browsers open ready to press the button at the last minute. I've been out bid with fraction of a second left, wondering how that happened.
I try to bid late - with my limit. I've been beat out at the last possible seconds about as often as not - but that way I don't spend more than I think an item is worth.
i know you must like abuse otherwise you wouldnt be going back  after your episode i dont even look at ebay anymore.except when someone post a cool looking car.
I read somewhere that over 60% of the winning bids are placed in the final seconds of an auction on ebay.
Be aware that some sellers place bids from their own hotmail or whatever free accounts to drive up bids. If they happen to end up high, they claim the bidder did not follow thru and get to re-list.
Why bid when you can lay in wait and have someone else bid for you 7 seconds before the close of the auction? Let the other guy think he's got it and let him go out to take pics of HIS car thinking he's got the auction won while you're out driving around letting esnipe do your bidding for you. :yesnod:
There is a .com company that will snipe (bid at the last second) for you. I don't recall the name but try auctionwatch.com. They give the lastest scoope on auctions and such.
E-bay suxs!
If I want something Im going to buy it not play money games for it.
Cause if you loose then you have to order it out a magizine anyway 7 days later after the bidding is over and you lost.
I never used this eSnipe thing, but I don't see the point of bidding before the last seconds. You are just giving time and opportunity for someone--usually some %$@#& with more money than brains--to out bid you.
esnipe is pretty cool. It prevents the emotional bidding frenzy at the end. I picked up a new radio for my Grand Prix using it a few weeks ago. i knew I was going to be gone when the auction ended. Set my price, put all the info in eSnipe and walked away. Checked afterwards to find that I won.
