Default Clearancing the block for 383

Does anyone make a 383 kit that does not require clearancing the block? I would really like to build a 383 with the original engine, but I am not too excited about altering the original numbers matching block.

If they don't make such a kit, I can always stay with the 355.

Your best bet is to put the original engine aside and get another block, after all,the only thing you will be using for your stroker is the block itself, the rest of the parts probably won't be of any use. There is also a fair to good chance your 383 may self distruct for no good reason and destroy your numbers matching block,I broke 3 last year!!!
(1st cheapo hyper piston exploded,2nd oil pump p/u broke and fell off,
3rd cheap Eagle cast crank broke in two)

It is just the inside of the block that needs some grinding. It won't hurt your origianal at all. Grind away and enjoy the extra torque. Noone will ever know what is inside.

Gordonm is right, there's nothing that clearancing will do to affect worth or looks of the block. I'd go with 6" rods for internal balance and use the ones made by Scat - I think they call 'em Pro Series or something like that. They have a stroker friendly big end, lots of folks don't have to touch the block when using them. Good luck!

The Eagle forged kits use the K-cut stroker clearanced rods & might fit w/o block mods, give them a call. Their 3.875 kit fits in a GM 3.800 block with no other mods (Of course its factory clearanced for the longer stroke)
