Default Another seat belt question

I checked the archives with little success. I'm not 100% sure if my '69 coupe should have shoulder belts or not. At this time it has no shoulder belts. Did it originally? Does anyone know if lap belts only were an option? I don't see any left-over apparatus for the shoulder belt. Thanks for the help.

I don't think GM started putting shoulder belts in the rest of their cars until 70 or 71 (my 68 Cutlass didn't have them but my 71 did).

cmac72- for some reason I think lots of forum members have shoulder belts in their 69 coupes. I just don't know why my Vette has none, unless some came that way. Thanks

Does your lap belt have an extra button on it?

Option code A85 - Info I has says only 600 '69 vettes were produced with the custom shoulder belts. My '70 vert came with the option, but they were gone when I bought it and I had to search for a while and pay big $$$ for a replacement set.

I think they were standard on Coupes and optional on Verts...My 69 Coupe has the mounting plates for shoulder belt retractors...I bought aftermarket belts/retractors...

No extra button on the lap belt. The belts I've got now are not orignal. I've replaced my carpet and find no parts that could have been a three point system. Thank you guys for the info.

Shoulder belts were first offered as an option in 1966. Shoulder and lap belts were two separate systems with two buckles. Here they are in my 1967.

These are my aftermarket shoulder/lap set...

Fstdraw..if you probe in area of retractor(pic) or reach your hand in rear wheel well behind frame on body, you should feel the factory mounting plate/hole....

Rihwoods,
That's a nice setup!

The bracket looks like this.
