Default Temp sending unit

Is it possible to use the same in-block tempature sending unit to work the gage and activate an electric fan? I know I can use the type sensor that mounts in the radiator, but would prefer the sensor in the block, but only have 1 place to install it.

What year? Maybe you could replace one of the block drain plugs with a temp sensor. Also as I recall on my 78', there is a plug in the other head as well.

Default Temp Sensor

The Vette is an 80 Model but the engine is an 02 LS1. One head has a sensore in it that feeds the computer, the other currently feeds the stock 80 Gage.

It depends on how you are controlling the fan. The SPAL controllers are supposed to work with the factory sensor and allow you to progam the low and high fan settings. If you are using some other type of controller the fan manufacturer should have some suggestions for hooking up the sensor.
