Front Suspension Clunk
I have a question about a suspension problem in my 1974Corvette. I bought this car about a month ago and I have a clunking that happens usually when backing out of my driveway, when I back out I have to come out onto the street at a angle so one wheel comes down off of the driveway curb first and then the other follows. When I have completed backing out and turn the wheel to straighten out the car there is a loud clunk or banging noise and there is a jerking sensation in the steering wheel. The sway bar bushings look like they were replaced recently and a friend of mine thinks that maybe the sway bar was tightened up while the wheels were still on a lift with no load on them, could this possibly be the problem or is there something else I should look at? I don't know anything about suspension work yet but it looks like I am going to need to learn.
