Default Starter or not?

I have a new motor a 383 stoker, and apparently a 400 Crank and flywheel.

This is now the third starter that's going bezerko on me.

When I try to start it it sounds as though clanking or grinding or something is not meshing.

This last starter I changed I have been driving it for now three months and I thought the problem was cured..

Just started up yesterday.. It can't be the starter again do you guys think?

First problem starter kept on and wouldn't stop until car battery died.
( starter was still on and car was not) Seems asthough starter kept spinning inside it's case and wouldn't stop.
So I replaced starter

2nd problem starter was good for about two days then loud clanking and grinding... Apparrently wrong type of starter was given to me !!

** We checked to see if the teeth on the flywheel were okay..

3rd starter replaced..
Worked good for about three months..
Now yesterday my heart sank when it started making that noise!!

I have a 93 LT1 motor and it's stroked to a 388

Anyone Anyone with insight please help.

Thanks

If the flywheel is OK it sounds like an alignment problem to me. You may need to shim the starter too make sure it interfaces properly with the flywheel.

capevettes Thank you.

Maybe it does... Or maybe after changing the starter three times I damaged the flywheel .

Price you pay if you wanna play. LOL
