The sound of an exhaust system is based solely on personal preference.
I'm using headers; 2-1/4" true duals w/crossover and Flowmaster Deltaflow 40's.
I like the sound, which is a good thing since I'm the one driving it! :D
Wouldn't it be cool if the major exhaust manufacturers such as Flowmaster, Dynomax, etc... would create a CD recording of various engine/exhaust configurations so that you could at least have SOME kind of an idea what your audible options were.

Actually there is a CD available to hear different types of exhaust. I forget where I seen it, but it does exist. Now i have to go :seeya and do an internet search to see if I can find it. :D

I worked in a 5" Naval Gun Mount in Vietnam....You gotta play it loud for me Brother...Chambered Pipes are the only ones I can HEAR!
 :seeya
In my opinion, the original, stock GM mufflers had the absolute best sound of any muffler EVER available for a Corvette, at least the 63-72 variety. An absolutely CLASSICAL sound and DISTINCTIVELY and UNIQUELY Corvette. Unfortunately, they don't make these anymore and NO ONE currently reproduces a muffler with the original Corvette muffler internal configuration. So, NO ONE produces a muffler that has the Correct, original sound. No matter what they say.
I have 2 sets stashed away, though, and when my 69 goes back on the road with its "ZL-1" engine, it will be sporting a set of the original mufflers. I can't wait to hear that sound again.
I like my Ravin Mufflers immensely. They outflow Flowmaster and all the others..and sound mean like a corvette should sound . Hear them at http://www.goravin.com Get them at Midas Muffler. They are a high performance muffler. I have the series 33 . Did i tell you that i love them?

i have always wondered, what is the internal configuration of an OEM muffler?
