Default Trailering your Vette

I'm trailering to the Woodward Dream Cruise.
It is a standard trans.
Should I put it in gear or leave it in neutral while trailering.
I've heard different opinions.
Thanks,

What were these opinions? I'm just curious as to why you would not put it in gear.

One opinion was that if the car were to rock that it would put stresses on the transmission. I'm leaning toward in gear. I'd worry more about loosing the car off the trailer than hurting the trans.

Any stresses it may put on it are nothing compared to the stresses of just driving it.

I would NOT leave it in gear.
I drove a lowbed for many years (Heavy Equipment) but the same rules still apply. Leave the car in neutral,no parking brake, secure it firmly with straps or chains.
Sudden stops, starts, jerking will rack the drivetrain and raise hell with all components.

I dont know if it would hurt to apply the parking brake in your situation so Ill let you decide But I would certainly not put it in gear/park

My 2 cents

As long as its strapped down good, there shouldnt be much movement... plus, I would think that dumping the clutch at 5000 rpm would put much more stress on all components.

I see your point though.. curious on others opinions.

I would put it in gear. I can't see that there would be all that much stress trailering a car compared to doing a burnout for 50 yards. When they are delivered to the dealership they are in gear.
