what a sad topic title ;)

if this happened to me i would get a test light or a multi-meter and a wiring diagram and start methodically testing components through the electrical system to see what has power. if your car just suddenly quit, then i would suspect something simple like a loose connection or failed component somewhere. good luck.

I really hope this guy didn't sabotage your car to magically "fix" it for you. Seems a little fishy.

What's that about "all things being equal, the simplest explanation will most likely be the most probable?" I think it's also called the Kiss (Keep It Simple Stupid) Principal.

I doubt your mechanic would sabotage your car. I'm not saying it can't happen. But with there being so many things that can go wrong with these cars as it is, does any mechanic really need to sabotage anything? I know with my car, given enough time (minutes, maybe hours), something is bound to go wrong. The only variable is how long it takes me to either fix the issue or take it into the mechanic.

Do what the others have said, and get yourself a multimeter. You may as well learn how to troubleshoot the electical system now.

I'm on the verge of doing the same, to chase down a ghost in my machine that's taken my gauges, power windows, and headlights.

Good Luck!
