Default Idle solenoid nut

Does anybody know where to get the idle solenoid nut for my 73? My books don't have it or I can't find it. Vendor and part number would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Wes

Thanks Bob,..I called that place and Dr. Rebuild's computer differs with the catalog link you provided. The link says the nut is good on 71-76 Vettes. Their computer says 71-72. I have a 73.

Does anyone know if the idle solenoids changed from 72 to 73?

Thanks,
Wes

it's just a jam nut.

take your solenoid down to the local ACE hardware or nut and bolt store and find the one that fits.

If I went to Ace Hardware and asked for a nut to fit a 3/4" course thread, they'll trot out a big honking hunk of metal.

The correct nut is specific to the task,..very thin.

Thanks just the same,
Wes

If you know anyone with a lathe, you could have them cut down that "honking" nut to the size you need pretty easily.

that's because you are asking them for a nut instead of a jam nut.

read the description at doc rebuild. he refers to it as a jam nut.

a jam nut is less than half the thickness of a regular nut.

if you can not find a jam nut at ACE, any good nut and bolt supply house will have them.

hope this helps,

Mike.

I know its NOT the same as a 71. Went through that drill. Only Doc Rebuild had the right part and I searched the country.

so what is so special about an idle solenoid jam nut for a 71?

is it an odd ball thread pitch?

how much did Doc Rebuild want for it?
