My '71 has a t-top gap you could drive a semi through! It's gotta be an inch. It was like this when I bought the car several years ago. Since I've fixed the other items on my (long) list, I'm getting down to this one. Can the top pin be adjusted?
The vinyl liner on your T-top can be removed relatively easily. Once the liner is off, you will see that the pins are held on with two bolts and can be loosened and then the top reinstalled. Once the top is on you can see where the adjustment needs to be made.
IIRC, the GM Service Manual gives an adjustment procedure for this. Do you have one?
Yep, I've got the AIM and service manuals. Seems like the tops have been 'outboard' for a long time; the A-pillar trim is pretty chewed up at the top by the top hold-down clamps. I'll take the inside vinyl pad off and check it out.
BTW, I'll get some pics posted.........
Here's a couple of pics. It's about 3/4 inch. Also, what type of socket is used to loosen up the front pin? It looks like an inverse 'torx'.
I would start by removing the out sid guide pin and the trianglar outside bolt and loosen the two center support see what part is out of adjusment. The gaps are a little wide but not as wide as yours. I attached a picture of mine, AL.
