If I go to the auto zone type stores will they have rear ones and will they be any good? If they do have them will they have the ones with the stainless steal sleves.I don't race my car and I want it all stock because it's a CE.I really don't need the Bear-VB ect.Just want the stock stuff and I don't want to spend a lot of $$.I drive the car but not every day, but maybe three or four times a week I'll take it out someplace.Vette Brakes seem to be all about preformance so their stuff is too much, both money wise and I would not get my moneys worth out of them.Maybe if I had wheels the you could SEE the calpers I would get something cool that looks good all painted up but I've got the wheel thing working aginst me on that
The problem with AZ and other large chain stores it that you dont know what you are going to get. The distribution systems are regional and they contract with more than one company. Just ask them if they are stainless sleaved. If they cant tell you, walk. You dont what anything but SS calipers. You can get good SS calipers that are reasonable if you shop around a little.
napa has the stock style castings and they're all stainless sleeved for about $100 each. I've never seen autozone calipers, but I know they carry a different brand, at least they do here. I just found out in another thread that you can standard lip seal rebuilt calipers from vb+p pretty cheap too, might be worth looking into.

Whst thread are you talking about?I'd like to check it out.
autozone and advance (advance is where i got mine) are stainless steel sleeved. I put set on mine they work great. brake componets are federally regulated. It doesnt matter who makes them they have to pass certifications. you will be fine with the ones from az or advance, plus they honor thier lifetime warranty

if they're still running their 15% off for forum members, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from VB+P. They have a lot of street stuff too, and from what I've seen its all pretty good quality.
I use Autozone for as many parts as I can. Their brake components are flawless rebuilds calipers by Femco with SS sleeves...they say so on the box...and master cylinders rebuilt by Cardone. Be sure that you use some masking tape to cover the bleeder screws and pistons then wipe them off with solvent and paint them to prevent rust. I use Rust-Oleum rusty metal primer and Midnight Black Metalic...some people use silver or red.
Advance auto parts uses the A1 Cardone brand. I have purchased
a few sets for different corvettes without any problems. I do prefer
purchasing the calipers locally for several reasons:
1. Instant credit on the cores and no return shipping charges. I have
read a number of previous threads regarding people waiting for some
time for core credit, and other threads about cores being rejected.
2. If the calipers are defective you can return them without paying
shipping charges and get immediate replacements. You can also
inspect them at the time of purchase. I have seen a few rebuilt
calipers with bad threads or seats where the brake line screws in.
