Default Burning #4 spark plug boot with Dynomax headers

I have dynomax headers with 1 5/8 primaries on my 383 and I keep burning the boot on #4. The boot almost touches the header tube. This is with both Accel boots and MSD boots. Anybody try insulating sleeves that Jegs has in their catalogue?

I bought the insulating sleeves after melting two boots. Been on for a couple weeks now and they seem to be doing the job.

I found Accel fiberglass boot protectors at Autozone the other day for under $25, less than half what the ones from Summit cost. They seem to be working fine. God bless, Sensei

Guys spark plug extenders are the answer to this problem. I had 3 plugs that were a problem. Got the extenders for $30 apiece and it solved all my problems. I really recommend them for any problems. They bring the spark plug wire out about 4 inches from the plug and that solves burning the boot and misfires.

This will solve your problem.

Have Dynomax headers (black) w/ Taylor Sprio-Pro wires. Wires hold up to the heat. No problems here.

This was my problem. I had 3 plug wires too close to the heads. I tried Jacob’s ceramic boots for years and thought I had the solution but the wires still came too close to the heads. I then had the local speed shop call me and tell me about a magazine article they saw and I contacted I believe Steve from this company and got 3 of the extenders.
They really worked and after 4 or 5 months of testing I really like how they work. No more worries about burnt boots, shorts or misfired cylinders.
I really recommend them for any close headers to plug boot problems.
This is one of the problem plugs

The extender installed on the plug. It can lay right against the header and the end is totally adjustable as to angle

This is the normal plug attached to the extender well out of harms way.
Again I tried Jacob ceramic boots for years, recommended them also but after trying these ceramic extenders I would not go back

These have solved my problems as well. This is one of those "I wish I had thought of that" products.

These are Hooker Comps, but 90 degree plug ends provide me with all kind of clearance even with the 2 1/8 primary tubes.
