Default Question about Carlisle

Hey guys.. Talked to my buddy this morning about going to Carlisle. He told me if you don't get the Sat morning before 6am that you are gonna wait hours just to get into the place. Is this true??? I was gonna take off FRIDAY, but can't afford to right now, so I have to go Saturday. Fill me in. Thanks.

That is very true about the main entrances. There are a lot of back and side entrances to the yard that do not get very crowded. I go there a lot and live close so I have learned a few tricks. If you go drive around the yard and you will find some of the other small entrances that no one else knows. I find the back entrance to be the best.

Yes, it is true.

I would leave NJ at 4:00am to get there by 7 so I could avoid the mess & get a free (on the street), close parking space for my non-Vette.
Had a routine that worked every time.

Brought food in a cooler & left it in the trunk.
Walked out at lunch time to eat.
Food is also expensive.

It's too far for me to drive now, and I miss it, but it sure is alot of fun.

Just to recap on what I said before, if your going in the morning, take ten minutes and drive around the back of the yard and find the back entrance. I probably be there at 8:00am.

i usually get tehre around 7:30-8 and end up parking in a lot or grassy knoll they have right outside the entrance. Of course this is the entrance at the back left corner but its close to all the parts vendors

Is it true that if you drive your Vette you get to park on the grounds? Anyone have a diagram of the grounds with all the entrances on it?

Thank you all for your input.. I am glad I asked, because I was gonna leave my house around 8am, but now it looks like 5 am...Thanks. I hope to find carpet and silver seats for my 81 there. Just hope I don't drive there and find out I could have payed the same price at wilcox corvette. It will be a nice show I am sure..

It gets worst every year....
I have been going to ALL the Carlisle shows for about 20-25 years now...(a long time anyway)..

I live 70 miles from the fraigrounds and This year I am leaving at 6 AM Friday....BUT 5 AM on Saturday.. Just to be able to park in a registry that has reserved parking places... !!!!!

Was nice 5-6 years ago when our local club could have a group breakfast down the mountain from Camp David at 7 AM and strat our drive up as a group by 8 AM...

But those days are gone...
