Default Aftermarket Throttle Bracket/Cable Advise

The stock throttle bracket and cable for my 69 vert does not function fully when used with Performer intake and Holley S/A carb. The throttle bracket will move forward and the plastic sleave will hit the bracket when wide open (pedal to the floor).

What aftermarket throttle/cable are you guys using for this type of intake and carb? I know Lokar manufactures several options but I'm not sure what would work best.

Any advise or help would be appreciated.

You don't need a new cable, you just need the bracket that works with the Holley carb and the stock cable. The LT-1 engine uses it for example. I was able to buy from Doc Rebuild, but I am sure there are other vendors that also sell it.

He's right, you don't NEED to replace the cable...You can just use the proper bracket (which, BTW, that Lokar bracket is a great bracket; holds the cable in place for the Q-Jet solidly...The Holley will probably need the little tightening screw to hold it from moving).

The cable is semi-easy to replace...just disconnect the old one from the carb, unbolt the gas pedal from the floor to give yourself a bit more slack in the cable, and then unhook it from the top of the pedal and pull it through the firewall.

When you put the new piece in, hook it into the pedal, have someone hold the end that's going through the firewall by the carb (or use a set of vise grips to hold the end from pulling back into the car and having the little barrel piece fall out of the top of the accelerator pedal). Cut the cable and the housing to fit, attach the cable to the end, and connect it to the carb. Voila, you're now ready to adjust.

Will this bracket work with a TV cable for a 2004r? Or do I need a separate bracket for it? My stock setup doesn't fully open the mechanical secondaries on my Holley 750 dbl pr with the pedal mashed all the way to the floor.

I don't have a TV cable on my '69, but there is a provision for a trans kickdown cable on this bracket if you have one.

Bowtie makes a plate that goes under the carb that has both the throttle bracket and the TV bracket on it, so that both are the correct distance away from the carb. They make them for both Quadrajets and Holley's I believe. You might give them a call.

Carl,
That is exactly what I'm talking about. Do you also have trouble with the bracket moving forward due to the pin not seating against the carb?
I did end up cuting the protective plastic tube completly off but, my bracket still moves forward at wide open.

I installed my SA yesterday. I purchase an aftermarket bracket. Bracket works fine, but the cable itself seems too long.

How can I adjust the length of cable? It's hard to work under the pedal, is it ok to cut the cable near the carb?
