Default edel brock Carb ID

I purchased an Edelbrock carb from Ebay.

It works ok, but needs to be rebuilt/rejetted/ tuned.

How do I find the 'Series' of carb it is?

Thanks!

Where were you going to buy the rebuild kit?

To be honest, instead of looking around for the deff of the casting numbers, just take the carb with you to Oreilly. They will punch one of the numbers in, and give you the right kit.

Then you can just ask him, and kill two birds with one, very big stone.

It's stamped on the Carb - I think on one of the front base plate tabs.

There are usually up to three numbers stamped into the body of the carb. Make sure you write them all down if you don't opt to just take the carb with you.

The common two are 1406 and 1407. One's electric choke, the other is manual. Both I think are 650s.

Im fairly certain it is a 1406. the only numbers I saw stamped were '8828'

So I can go to any big chain and they can get the numbers?

Just got back from playing with it.

Everything runs ok except the idle needs to be are 2000 or it stalls.

when I partically cover the air horn with my hand, the idle go up.
Im thinking that I just need to rejet. but I might as well rebuild it while I am at it.

Yup, they can enter the 8828 into their database, and look up the correct part number without even needing the carb model number.

What enigine is this going on? Stock? Modded?

a L82 that is stock except for long tube headers and dual exhaust.

My Q-jet needed some work and the parts are fun to try to find.

Have you thought about a whole new carb? Maybe a new series Demon? I hear wonderful things about them.
