Default Anyone running this exhaust system?

Thoughts? How's it sound? Pros/cons? I am thinking of getting it for the new 383 I'll be putting in my '73.

I have the Chambered II system, love the sound and it get's compliments everywhere. The Stage II you show is a little quieter (between stock and Chambered II). The Chambered II is nowhere near as loud as some of the other chambered systems out there. The I & II denotes how many mufflers per side.

Allen's has good quality parts and they fit well, if not he backs everything up. The exhaust pictured is for manifolds, but he can include front pipes for headers that may need modification. I fabbed my own front pipes for better clearances. I used a '73 2 1/2" inch system with 2 1/4" tail pipes.

He usually includes stainless tips with the Chambered II.

There will be some that say chambered systems are restrictive, the originals were, but the internal pipe size used today is larger than the originals. There are no dyno tests to prove any restriction theories on modern chambers.

I hope you will be running headers with the 383. I would have a custom system built for your motor. If you are going to be putting out anywhere near 450+ HP the system shown will not flow enough. It will work but your HP will suffer. I have a custom 2 1/2 system that should support 500 HP 383. I'm probably just shy of that now. The custom system fit better than any per made system I had on the car.

Definitely go with a mandrel bent system vs the compressed bends which restrict flow.

Yes, headers will be in the mix for sure.

hi gordon, i'm going to go to back exhaust soon (from hookers open side mounts), i'm choosing hookers as headers 1 3/4, i'm not sure if i want true duals or the X type, some say the X gives a better performance, others say true duals sound far better...my engine has a healthy dinoed output of 570hp and the least thing i want to do is to restrict its flow, what do advice? diameter of tubing? i have flowmaster 40 delta force prepared for mufflers, do you agree?
sorry to bother you with all these quastions though
thanks/Giu

Your motor is a 406 ci with 570 HP I might look into a 3 inch system. I am right on the brink of a 2 1/2 with my 385 ci and HP level. The 2 1/2 would work but you might be losing some HP in the upper rpms. I have an H pipe on mine but have heard the X pipe is a little better flowing. I like my H pipe design because it seperates right at the H pipe and I can easily remove the system without cutting it. This has come in handy many times as I have had it off many times since the install. No problem on the questions. I'm always interested in what you have been doing with your car.

well..between civil servants delaying my passport application (had to get a new super fancy one because of the much more stringent checkls) and terrorists messing things up, not enough time to make it to detroit for the woodward cruise...I cancelled, no use in going to the US and drive around... I wanted to go to woodward & carlisle.
