Jumpy speedo needle
Mine jumps around, I have a new speedo cable that came with my TKO 600. I think it must be the mechanism itself. I have the instrument cluster out now so I would like to fix it.
I remember someone posted a thread about fixing this problem but I can't find it.

OK how bout this, I tried to pull the needle off, I used my fingers, I pulled straight up with alot of force. It did not budge, I don't want to break it so unless anyone has an idea of how to get the needle off without breaking it them I am going to put up with the jumpy needle.
Do you still have the transducer in between the speedo and trans? If so, might want to check it out and check the short cable to the speedo for binding. If not, is your 1pc cable turning smoothly? Those speedos are awfully easy to break...especially the needle I have a hurt one here LOL
The needle is free floating so it can't be binding. Put a cordless drill on the cable and run it counter clockwise, with the drill at max RPM the speedo should be steady. If it is the issue is not the speedo itself.

Now there is something I didn't think about, gonna try the drill trick tommorrow.
I don't have a transducer. THe needle was bouncing with my old tranny ( T10) and then I got a TKO 600 and a new one piece speedo cable and it still bounces.
Since everything from the back of the speedo was new I just assumed it would be the speedo mechansim itself. But like you say, they are easy to break and I will put up with a bouncy needle rather than busting the needle and maybe more.
Edit: I just tried the electric drill and the speedo is working perfect. I can't believe a brand new tranny and cable would be the problem. The more I think about I have had nothing but problems to sort out with that Keisler "perfect fit" tranny, the thing is leaking oil now too.

may be the cable, take extra care in routing it and lube the inside. When I still had a cable I modified mine with lube ports. If you have i routed at a sharp angle somewhere it may bind.
.No easy job unless you have a cable oiler
With the oiler it can be done from below
Otherwise you need to get behind the dash which is one place I dont prefer to go
The dash cable is very easy to remove, jsut remove the lower heater duct and feel up there, push the locking tab and pull the cable out of the speedo, then pull from the engine bay.
