Default Replacement Starter Problem

I have a '69 427/390 with an automatic trans. My original starter was giving me problem so I ordered a heavy duty replacement from Ecklers. A PowerMaster starter arrived and it looked just like the original so I figured it would be an easy swap. I installed the new starter and when I tried to start the car, nothing. So I dropped the starter and keeping it wired I jumped it at the solenoid. It cranked immediatly. So I tried again from the ignition and still nothing. I reconnected the origional starter and jumped it from the solenoid and it cranked. I then tried from the ignition and it also cranked. I then reconected the new starter and nothing from the ignition. I again was able to jump the new started at the solenoid and it cranked fine. Any ideas why the new started will not work from the ignition?

It seems you have power from the ign. when you turn the key.....check to make sure the ign. connection at the new starter is the same as the old one.......

The connections are the same. I labeled the wire as they came off the first time and also took pics. I went through the starter swap a few times with the exact same results. Only the old starter cranks from the ignition.
