I am pulling out what little hair I have left. I have a 74 that was lunched when I bought it. I have replaced just about everything and am having problems getting it running right.
Here is what it is:
350 Goodwrench crate engine
Rebuilt th-400 trans
3:08 rear
Edelbrock intake and 600 carb
Mallory HEI dist.
Headers etc.
Electric fuel pump with regulator set to 5 psi.
The problem I am having is that it just seems to bog off the line, you give it gas and it moves OK but seems to be working too hard. I verified the timing it is 14 degrees BTDC and I verified the timing mark. I rebuilt the carb today and everything seems to be working. I think it must be the carb but I am at my wits end.
Total timing is 34, the vacuum canister is working and on manifold vacuum. Accelerator pump is working and adjusted to the middle position. All the jets in the carb are correct for the 1406 performer.
Bogging might not be the right word as it does not really pull until you are above about 3200 rpm.
It's not going to be a rabbit off the line due to the fact that you have a 3.08 gear. Re-check your timing to make sure you are getting the most from your dist.,and enjoy.
