Default Clutch question

On my C6 the clutch engages about an inch from the floor, however on my '78 it doesn't engage until maybe 4-5" from the floor. Is this normal?

On a 78 with fresh clutch, adjustment (freeplay) is normally 1" - 1 1/2"...are you sure you are at 4 - 5" ??
