Default Temporary muffler solution

Hey folks, quick question: I just installed headers on my Vette and fired her up - and boy is she LOUD. I'd feel very bad driving even a block with those open headers.

So I'm thinking of getting a short term solution together so I can drive her to the exhaust shop and even just drive her around a little (if possible) before I get my real exhaust done.

So something I was thinking of was picking up some cheap Cherry Bomb type glasspacks and have them welded to a couple header flanges so I can bolt those up temporarily.

The price looks good and it sounds like I can probably fit, say, some 16" ones in there with no problem. BUT, I have never heard one. Anyone have comments on the sound volume or have any sound clips? Or does this just sound insane??

thanks in advance

I kind of doubt you'd notice much difference with the cherry bomb type mufflers. It's still going to be way loud. Instead of the cost of the bombs and the flanges, could you just have a flat bed take it to the muffler shop?

I run Dynomax glasspacks in my Hooker side pipes and trust me they're not quiet but they reduce the sound big time.
At under 20 bucks pop, what's to lose?

I would just drive to the muffler shop without doing the extra hassle. My neighbors and I know only too well the noise (music) you are talking about. I would have the name and address of the muffler shop you are going to just in case a cop does want to speak with you. Go during a time of the day when traffic will be flowing the best and at an hour that will wake the fewest people.

As bad as the open pipes are, they are not that much louder than a city bus or big truck, if you keep the revs low and your foot out of the secondaries.
