Anyone have a pic on how you set up your press for removing the spindels from the TA? I have never done this particular piece before. I am thinking 2 long bolts into the caliper carrier to brace one side and a press plate or some adjustable olumbing bubbagizmo on the shock mount on the other side.
Or am I FOS?
I have a couple of pieces of "I" beam I place on the press table. This will raise the spindle up, then I fit the press plates under the spindle flange and use a spindle knocker tool to protect the threads. Apply force and be careful as it will pop pretty loud! The backing plates will get bent but I replace those anyway because they are usually pretty rusted.
If they are not too badly rusted then you might be bale to use the hammer tool and a 5 lb hammer to drive them out. Be sure to use a new spindle nut and check it on the spindle before you assemble them. The nut must go on freely with no binding otherwise you'll get a flase reading torquing the nut to 100ft/lbs.
