Default Edelbrock Intake

I'm thinking about putting a performer intake on my 73. Will I have enough hood clearance for it? There is one on Ebay because the guy says it wouldn't fit on his 70 Vette. It is a 2101. I thought I read that some of you are using these. If so,will the stock air cleaner fit with a Q-jet? Thanks very much for the info. Craig :chevy

I'm using the 2101. Why buy from ebay when you can buy a brand new @ Summit Racing (800-230-3030) for $103.95 plus $6 for shipping? If you need the part # is EDL-2101. I have the Demon 650 and you can see my big air cleaner from my sig and it all fits under my L82 hood.

Probably more Performer intakes on C3's than original intakes, it'll fit no problem.

Depends on the year. 68-72 are probably the worst car for hood clearance that GM ever made.

If i recall 73's have the same hood profile as a 68-72, but without the wiper door. I could be wrong about that.

Get a 2101.

73-79 have a nice med. rise hood.

Quick thing -- I have the Performer 3701 in my '73. I'm assuming that since you're getting the 2701 you're going to get rid of the EGR.

Performer fits fine. It's the RPM that has problems with the hood clearance.

Check out my website at http://www.albertpenello.com/vette if you want to see what the 3701 looks like on.

Have fun!

If you're interested, I have a new in the box Performer that I have decided not to use. It's the 2101, non-EGR model. $80 + shipping (probably about 10 bucks). I'm looking for an LT1 intake for my car at the moment.

The air cleaner lid hit the hood after I installed the Edelbrock Performer EGR #3701 on my block. This happened with the stock air cleaner, Q-jet and stock AC Delco carb base gasket. It should fit just fine but for some reason, I haven't figured it out yet, my engine is sitting higher after I re-built and installed it. I think it's the motor mounts I used or the trans tail is sitting lower causing the engine to be tilted up a little. I'm working on this problem. Short term solution was to by a drop base air cleaner.

I used one on my 73 L-48 without any problem until I decided to ad a Holley 4175. The aircleaner wouldn't sit down on the carb without hitting the vacume secondary modual. I raised the cleaner up with a 1/2" bushing and the hood still closed fine.

Has anyone here used or know of any experiance with the Weiand 8000 and 8004. I underatand they match the Elderbrock 3701 and 2101 respectivly. They are about, if not exactly, the same price and are the same heights. I kinda like the look of the Weiands better but haven't found anyone who runs one.

I have a 2101 on my 74, no problem with hood clearence.
I just took a new 2101 off my race car that has about 150 miles on it. $70
I was trying to run in a stock class that was too slow so I upped to a modified class and changed manifolds, and block and everything else and went up 300 hp. I'll have a Holley 600 in about 2 or 3 weeks when I get all the carbs sorted out
Next week when the big block swap starts, I'll have that 2101 low miles, but not as new, $50 and an edelbrock 600 cfm carb $50.
And I have a holley 650 carb for $75
Got Parts?

The Weiand 8004 Action+ should fit fine esp. if you have 73-79 med rise hood.

I ran an 8004 in my '73 L-48, fit fine even with a cheapo Mr. Gasket air cleaner.
