My power windows go up and down slow on my '77. What is the easiest way to get at the window track to clean it up and re-grease? What kind of grease should I use? Should I also re-grease the power window motor? Any other tips on what should be done while I'm in there would be appreciated.
Idon't have PW but when I was adjusting my window for my Convertible top install I took everything out. Taking the track out was easier than I thought it was going to be. It was a lot nicer having the tracks out so I could clean them up really good. I don't know what kind of grease the factory used but I used a small amount of high temp wheel bearing grease and put a small film along each track and wheels. Made a big difference on how the window functions.
take them out, clean thuroghly and regrease with white lithium grease
You have to take everything out to clean properly, and the Lithium grease has the right consistancy (not too thick at low temps)
Here is something that might help.

If you take the whole lift assembly out make sure you put a bolt and nut through the large hole that is beneath the spiral spring. This will keep the tension of the spring in check if you remove the motor from the regulator. Also if the parts are old replace them with new at this time. All the parts are available from most Corvette Parts sellers.
Good Luck
