Default Performance tuning for 82´ vette

Hello friends,

I have a standard chevy corvette 82 with 200 hp. Does anybody know and recommend the most suitable way how to tune this engine without thoroughly modifying it to get about 250 or 270 hp?
Any links, experiences etc. are appreciated.

Thanks for your casual help.

Just enjoy it for it is, a boulevarde cruiser. Xfire forum is good, but the average Joe won't be able to do most everything given there to get over 200 hp.

Default Couldn't agree more

I owned an 84 with that wonderful crossfire engine and spent hours going over all of the "techie" stuff out there. (including crossfire.net)
I looked at the options and then looked ay my wallet. While I'm pretty good at bending wrenches..most of the stuff was over my head...

In the end I had the car re-painted, re-upholstered, and just drove it and enjoyed it... There's just no "reasonable" way to make it go faster short of dropping in a crate motor and new electronics... I sold it to a friend and bought something that I could tweak... a '78

Hi,
Unless you want to get involved with switching to a carb, new heads, intake and dual exhaust, it is not easy to get more power out of the crossfire. The 700R4 tranny and the rear axle can't take too much additional power anyway. Don't get me wrong, I own an 82, but I'm not interested in more horses. I enjoy the car just as it is with all it faults. Still a blast to drive and a real head-turner.
Good luck with your car.
Tom

Thats right, with enough money you can give all the hp you want. Sometimes I think to myself it might be easier just to give it some "juice". Anyways to give you an idea of do it yourself mods and what they will do for you. Just go to "my corvette pics", there I have a dyno sheet of my 84. Both 82 and 84 are very very close. Then take a look at my sig for my mods. Good luck and just enjoy the car

new heads and cam can put you in the 250-270 hp range .you would have to do that to most carb motors .change of gears helps .
