Has anyone else had this problem? The ujoint, where it seats in the pinion yoke does not seat tight. With straps installed and torqued down, you can move the driveshaft and ujoint about 1/16 inch back and forth between the ears of the yoke.

I have thought about building shims for each side, or do I need to replace the yoke.

Maybe you have 1310 joints in a 1330 yoke. 1330s have 1310 bearings but 1350 bodies, the 1350 body is 3/8 wider than a 1310. However, that's a lot more play than you have.

It's not in the ujoints or straps. I noticed this on disasymbly when I put the tko in. Keisler supplied new ujoints and i bought new straps. This seemed to take care of the problem. After about 1000 miles its back. I've checked and rechecked ujoint sizes and my ujoints are correct.

I have run into yokes that were spread before, if that is what you are referring to. They caused vibration at speed.

Well, I made two shims from some valve spring shims. the ujoint moving .075, anyway the shims were .037, it snugged everything up, when I got ererything back down. Havn't driven yet, I'll have to try it tomorrow. How hard it it to change pinion yoke in the car. I really don't want to pull this rear end.

Drove the car to work this morning. Everything seems good. The shims are still in place. No vibration to 85mph. Still believe I'm going to have to change the yoke. This is a temporary fix.

Default Wrong U-joint??

77383:
I was looking at yout sales order after reading this and the driveshaft we sent you should've had a GM 1330 rear u-joint. 3 5/8" from cap to cap and a 1 1/16" bearing cap diameter. Is the joint not fitting from side to side? I am wondering if you received a GM 1310 joint. 3 1/4" from cap to cap and 1 1/16" bearing cap diameter? Is this the stock rear end in your vette? Did you change out your yoke?
I will try to contact you via the phone number we have on file....

The ujoint u sent me is a 1330 and is the correct one for my yoke. The problem appears to be wear at the ears of the yoke that locate the ujoint from side to side. I only have about .075 inch of play.
I live close to van steel, spoke with them today and taking the car in tomorrow.

Thanks for the concern
