To whoever can help,
This is my first time using this forum and I'm not sure how it works but here goes:
I recently purchased a 1982 corvette and I replaced the power window motors. After doing so, I opened the passenger door and the factory alarm activated. According to the owner’s manual, all I have to do is unlock one of the doors using the door key and the alarm should de-activate. Unfortunately, that’s not working and I have not been able to drive my car for a week+ because the starter solenoid has been disabled by the alarm system and I can't get it to reset. Do you have any suggestions????? Help
If its like my 77 it is controlled by a switch on the inside of the drivers door panel with wires connected to a switch on the key lock cylinder. Mine doesnt disable the start circuit. Take off the drivers side door panel and you may have to bypass the switch.
Hi,
Did you try unlocking both doors with your key? On my 82, the alarm switch in the left door does not work, but the right door switch does. I don't know enough about the door wiring to know if your work on the window motors would effect the alarm wiring.
Good luck,
Tom
Buy a shop manual for your car. They are well worth the investment. It tells you how to diagnose and fix virtually everything on the car. It will also give you wiring diagrams and show you where everything is located. You can pick them up off ebay or buy them trough parts dealers. If you give me a fax number, I can send you a copy of the wiring diagram out of my 82 shop manual. Just send me a PM.
I had accidentally disconnected the electric door lock, (that doesn't work), but after reconnecting it and unlocking the door with the key, the car finally reset and I'm on the road again.
Thanks for all your input, you were all a great help.

used power door lock actuators are cheap buy a pair. you can get them for around $19 each off ebay. It is nice to have the options working on the car. I have just about repaired most of my options that were not working. The last option in need of fixing is the cruise control on my car. Then its off to do the dreaded paint job.
