Default prepping plastic interior parts for dye

Hi Guys

whats the best way to prep interior parts for dye, I am going from blue to doe skin on my 79. ALot of the blue is flaking off.
would laquer thinner be enough to take it off?

Don’t use thinner you ruin it..... Clean with soap and water and let dry...then use a vinyl prep product like Sem's vinyl prep. It will soften the vinyl and the paint with adhere the surface better.
they also make it for leather and plastic

I just redyed my '79 Doeskin interior and prepped it all with this stuff first. It came out very nice.

Eastwood Company is where I got mine. I agree, use the plastic prep, then use Sand Free primer, ,then the dye. I bought it all in kit when I did my interior and am very happy with it. Just remember, use many light coats of dye or it will run.

The dye tends to be thinner than paint, so it does run fairly qucikly if you are not careful. Dust the surface with a light tack coat, then apply a thin coat, let dry & repeat until you get the coverage you want.
