I bought these calipers from Keith of Corvette Engineering back at Christmas. I got them back from my painter a couple of weeks ago, I wanted them red, and I installed them this week. Here are pictures.
Four new calipers and brackets on a scale. Only 16 pounds.
Four stock calipers and brackets on a scale. 60lbs. 44lbs savings.
Three of my rotors were original, so I spent a lot of time drilling rivets. A real PITA. I also trimmed the backing plates on the rear.
The rear rotors simply bolt on after the rivets are removed. The front needed new bearings and grease packing. Once the rotors are in place, the Wilwood calipers mount on with brackets. Rears:
Front: My wife helped me bleed. I'll mount the wheels and test drive tomorow.

Reason: Easier to find in search.
It's hard to believe how light they are. Have you had a chance to break them in yet?
Thanks Z-man. I'll be in Ventura for a Porsche meet today, but I hope to bolt on the wheels, lower the car, and drive it later today. Any brake pad break in advice?
Thanks Twin Turbo. Next project is the batwing. I'll be using your cad cam drawings to design and weld on brackets. Has anyone else done this? Replace the steel rear end cover and crossmember with an 80 to 82 batwing. Any advice?
Great, you are going to luv'em. Anyone still thinking stock calipers are THAT great? YUK!
Thanks GroovyJ and stingraymaniac.
The stock ones were great. Once I went to stainless sleeved calipers, I was very happy with them. Stopped on a dime and chipped change. I did this mainly because of the great price, the weight savings, and they look so cool. If I get better brake performance, that would be gravy. I'm not expecting much more though, the caliper bores are the same as stock. The pads should perform better than what I had though.
Great job! I also got Wilwoods because of the weight savings. The better performance was a bonus. I even recouped some of my money by selling the stock calipers....Ecklers will pay $25.00 apiece for them.
So how much was the whole package? I need to figure out which of my kids doesn't go to college next year. They look great, and the weight savings is huge.
I bought only the front package from Keith during a group purchase a while back. Seems like it was $415.00. That includes brackets, ss lines, other hardware. If there was enough interested he might get up another discounted group purchase.
What are the advantages of the Wilwood master cylinder over the stock?
As far as the mechanical functioning probably none, I don't know. To me it looks better, is definitely much lighter, and will not rust. I hope it's the last MC I ever have to buy for the vette.
WOW BeeJay, those look great.
Did they seperate then to paint them? It looks like I can still see the spacers being unpainted.
For who asked, the fronts are $450 a pair and the rears are $465 a pair. This includes new laser cut single piece brackets, Stainless braided lines, and all hardware required to make the system work, well except for brake fluid.
Oh and shipping is free to forum members.
gyopp;
These are fixed calipers a lot like stock. But Better.
