i am considering installing a nitrous powershot kit on my car. NOS says the bottle should be mounted sideways, but if i do that in the back behind my seat, i won't have any room to carry my t-tops. does it really hurt to install the bottle facing front?

No problem with bottle mounted facing front, make sure the top of the bottle is angled up so the siphon tube can get to the nitrous in the bottom of the bottle.
It is best to mount it valve to the front of the car at an angle higher in the front than the back, with the sticker up. There is a siphon tube inside the bottle that will pick it all up in this postion.

I just finshed installing the Edelbrock system in my 1980 L82.Installing one of these systems is not as easiy as the makers of the systems would make you think! They take a lot of time to install. Also you will need a blow off tube installed on the bottle, this is a must on our vettes!!!!!Gator 79 you better go install one!!!!!The nitrous kits by major manufactures are all pretty much the same price and quality.YES they are loads of fun!!!!!

i was wondering what that tube was for, I sold that car but kept the nitrous system, it is on the shelf in my shop I was thinking of puting it on my 71 big block, but I have no clue where I would mount the bottle in a vert

Ive heard of people removing the spare tire and mounting them there, but I've never seen a pic of how to mount/angle the bottle.
The blow off tube is only if you have it mounted inide the cabin. Don't want the interior filled with nitrous if the burst disk ruptures. I've seen my bottle pressure up to 1250 pounds sitting in the hot Ga. sun. I keep a towel with me to cover it when it's real hot and sunny.
I have been wondering about this as well.....Looks like the pics so far are from 78 and up cars....with that mean mid year the exception Anyone with a 68-76 have a bottle installed inside? Andy where are you planning on putting the bottle so the t tops still fit?
I have also been looking at this idea - am thinking about the space now available by removing spare wheel and carrier etc............
I have the bottle rotated so that the pick up tube points down and back. Works well. A remote switch makes it easy to shut off/on. The tires and wheels no longer stick out BTW.
yeah the Nitrous manuals say to mount the bottle parallel to the axles. this was my concern from the start.
also since my vette is a 77 i don't have the bubble window, so i'm not exactly sure how i'd mount the bottle in the car since i still have to store my t-tops. anyone have a way to work around this??

I am sorry, but no nitrous bottle should be mounted parell to The axles!!!! The reason why is that the bottle has a pickup tube it it and the bottle is desired to draw liquid nitrous through that tube.On hard accel if your bottle is mounted parrell to the axles you will run the chance of picking up vapor and not liquid nitrous. If you must mount it parrall to the axles it must have a 45 degree angle with the valve facing forward with the label up and back of the bottle mounted lower then the front. This info comes direct from edelbrocks manual.
